Very nice article.

There is a problem with Google Domains that I didn't have with Godaddy. Due to the way Google Domains handles the mail headers, many times you cannot figure out to WHICH address you were sent a junk mail message. For instance, we use addresses like cnet.com@confusionists.com, but we can't always figure out (even looking at the 'full' message headers) to which email the junk that arrives in the catch-all was sent. With Godaddy, that information was always in the headers.

Though on the other hand, Godaddy rejected mail from known domains like u.washington.edu because they were on a spam blacklist. You can't win 'em all, apparently.

I'll be checking out http://code.google.com/p/hosted-gmail-client/ and the Google Talk client, too.

Interesting, I hadn't heard about this client either. I've been App For Domaining for a while too and I still haven't found a good way get notified about all my accounts. I'm fine with going to each individual page to read the full text, but Google Notifier only works with one at a time. It'd be great if they'd roll out a multiple account notifier.

its a pretty cool idea - but it is not as good as the taskbar gmail notifier.

I just installed the firefox extension - gmail notifier - but I would rather have it in my taskbar and not have to open a new tab in firefox for it.

What do you mean that you use google talk as your notification client? I haven't heard of that.

I've been using "gmail for you domain" for a while now but I'd never heard of the 'hosted gmail client'. So far I've been using Google Talk as my notification client.
